OL – INTRODUCTION TO THE PIANO
In level 1 Students will learn the basics of music and the piano. This level starts with the absolute basics and builds from there. We’ll look at how the instrument works, how to build hand strength and independence, the basics of reading music and the basics of music theory. We’ll also learn some simple songs.

Lesson 1 – Piano Anatomy
In the opening class we get introduced to the instrument. We’ll learn what the different parts are
called, the difference between a piano and a keyboard, how the keys and pedals work, and the basic note names.

Lesson 2 – Fingering
The second lesson will go over the numbers used to represent the fingers on both hands. We will put this information to work and learn some basic finger exercises. The C pentascale will also be introduced.
